Digital Switchover - Are You Ready ?
Switchover is now complete across West Country, Wales, Granada and Border regions, and is currently underway for viewers in the West and STV region, making Freeview digital TV channels available to virtually all homes.
What is Digital TV Switchover?
Switchover is the process of converting the UK’s terrestrial television system to digital. Between now and 2012, analogue channels broadcast from more than a thousand transmitter sites are being switched off region by region and replaced with Freeview digital TV and radio services.
Why is it happening?
The digital TV switchover is Government policy and will mean that the old analogue signal will be switched off region by region and replaced with the new digital signal, which will offer TV viewers more channels than before.
Broadcasting in digital format is also a more efficient way to transmit television signals and will free up airwaves for new services such as ultra-fast wireless broadband, local TV, mobile television and High Definition television. Switching the terrestrial TV system to digital will ensure the UK keeps pace with other leading countries, many of which are also switching to all digital broadcasting.
What are the benefits of going digital ?

* Better picture & sound quality
* On-screen listings, interactivity and subtitling.
* Optional additional channels (e.g movies, sports)
Are you ready for the switchover?
