Which Software is right for you?
Oyyy.co.uk offer a full range of software, so to help you decide which type of package is the correct one for you we have compiled a guide which will give you a basic understanding of terms so you know exactly what you are buying.
Retail or FPP (Fully Packaged Product) - the standard route for purchasing software. It is easy to acquire, available 'off the shelf', and typically allows the customer to own the right to use the software forever.
OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) - these are software packs available to System Builders. A System Builder is defined as an OEM, an assembler, refurbisher or pre-installer of software on a computer system. The System Builder who opens the pack is responsible for providing end-user support if there are any problems. This software typically 'lives and dies' with the original machine it was installed on.
MLK (Medialess Licensing Kit) - many new pc's and notebook now ship with trial versions of certain software. Customers can purchase a MLK license within 60 days after a new pc purchase to activate the software. The cost is less than the purchase of the software as a FPP version. Although classed as an OEM product, MLK's are available to end users to compliment a new pc sold with the Office Ready option.
Licence - this allows the customer a tailor-made solution to their software requirements, and there are a variety of different types available to suit all kinds of organisations. Media Kits are only available to customers who have licenses to cover that particular software.
Academic - many software titles are available to academic establishments and their staff and students. You may need to prove eligibility to use this software.
